Patti LaBelle wears Amy Zerner's couture
|
Amy and I feel privileged to inform you that legendary singer Patti LaBelle has joined the ranks of very special women who wear and collect Amy Zerner's "Spiritual Couture." We hope you had a chance to watch Patti sing "On My Own" on FOX TV/Simon Cowell's "Celebrity Duets" a few weeks ago - we sent out an email about it - not just because she looked ultra elegant in one of Amy's gorgeous long "duster" style coats, but because she rocked the house! We're trying to get permission to put up the video on our website - it is fantastic!! Patti sang with the multi-talented Wayne Brady, host of the show, and it was good enough to have been released as a single.
The photo of us with Ms. Patti on this blog was taken a couple of weeks ago when we were fortunate enough to spend the afternoon with Patti and her stylist, Aaliyah Taylor, who is responsible for Patti finding out about Amy's one-of-a-kind fashions. You can read a cute article about Aaliyah in this week's New York Magazine.
Patti was kind enough to ask us to be her guests at the premier of the Lifetime TV movie, "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy," a very important and very funny movie starring Sarah Chalke of "Scrubs" that is based on the book of the same name by Geralyn Lucas, who actually works at Lifetime TV and has for some time. She discovered she had breast cancer when she was young and when that happens, it is usually a very aggressive cancer and drastic measures are called for. Geralyn survived and had two children, one of whom was at the premier, which was so filled with love and family that it felt more like a home movie. Amy and I laughed, we cried, it sounds like a cliché but that's what we did and we're the better for seeing the movie. I hope you do, too. Breast cancer awareness is an unfortunate rite of passage of every young woman these days. Patti has a part in the movie, which is why we were all there.
Amy just made a floor-length stunner of an opera coat for Patti to perform in. She's on tour to promote her new album, "The Gospel According to Patti LaBelle" which will be released in the next few weeks. Her fans have been waiting for a long time for Ms. Patti to do a gospel album. She's donating the proceeds from the album to cancer research because she's unfortunately had so much sorrow from that disease, losing three sisters to it before they reached the age of 45. Patti is a survivor in the truest sense of the world and her talent is a blessing to us all. Amy couldn't be happier that her "Spiritual Couture" is enveloping Ms. Patti LaBelle's healing mastery in its healing beauty. |
